Barbati Gallery is delighted to present Snoring Sounds, the first solo exhibition in Venice by Danish artist Tobias Just.

Moving between painting and drawing, Just’s works reveal a fragile terrain where material presence and the unfinished coexist. Layers of pigment, erased gestures, and shifting motifs transform ordinary impressions—pharmacy displays, a moth hovering in his room into images that hover between the everyday and the imaginary.

At the core of his practice lies an embrace of imperfection: mistakes, hesitations, and uncertainties are not concealed but allowed to breathe, giving each work a sense of openness and life. Snoring Sounds invites visitors to pause, slow down, and notice what usually slips past attention—the delicate residues, fleeting moods, and overlooked presences that quietly shape how we inhabit the world.

Tobias Just (b. 1998, Denmark) lives and works between Brussels and Copenhagen. He graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg, where he studied under Jason Dodge. His works have been presented in international institutions and independent spaces such as Den Frie (Copenhagen), YWV (Vienna), and Fasilet Art Circus (Hamburg).

Barbati Gallery è lieta di presentare Snoring Sounds, la prima mostra personale a Venezia dell’artista danese Tobias Just.

Oscillando tra pittura e disegno, le opere di Just aprono un terreno fragile in cui presenza materiale e incompiuto convivono. Strati di colore, gesti cancellati e motivi mutevoli trasformano impressioni quotidiane—dalle vetrine di farmacie a un insetto che si ferma nella sua stanza— in immagini sospese tra realtà e immaginazione.

Al centro della sua pratica vi è l’accoglienza dell’imperfezione: errori, esitazioni e incertezze non vengono nascosti, ma lasciati respirare, conferendo a ogni lavoro un senso di apertura e vitalità. Snoring Sounds invita i visitatori a rallentare, a fermarsi, e a percepire ciò che spesso passa inosservato—le tracce sottili, gli stati fugaci e le presenze marginali che, silenziosamente, plasmano il nostro modo di abitare il mondo.

Tobias Just (n. 1998, Danimarca) vive e lavora tra Bruxelles e Copenaghen. Si è diplomato al Dipartimento di Scultura della Hochschule für bildende Künste di Amburgo, studiando con Jason Dodge. Le sue opere sono state presentate in istituzioni internazionali e spazi indipendenti come Den Frie (Copenaghen), YWV (Vienna) e Fasilet Art Circus (Amburgo).
Snoring Sounds è la sua prima mostra personale in Italia.
